Tired all the time? Two levels worth knowing

Vitamin D and B12 are the two deficiencies most often behind low energy in this part of the world — and both are simple to check.

Fatigue is a symptom, not a diagnosis

Persistent tiredness has many possible explanations, and most of them cannot be settled by reading about them. What a blood test does is narrow the field — it rules things in and out so the conversation with your doctor starts from evidence rather than from guesswork.

Why vitamin D comes up so often here

In a climate where most of the day is spent indoors and out of the sun, low vitamin D is common — including among people who assume that living somewhere sunny protects them. It is one of the simplest things to measure and one of the most frequently found.

B12 and the energy question

Vitamin B12 is involved in forming red blood cells and in nerve function. Low levels can show up as tiredness among other things, and it is checked with the same single blood draw as vitamin D — which is exactly why the two are bundled together.

The honest next step

Test, then talk to a doctor about what came back. Levels are read against your symptoms and your history, and any decision about what to do next belongs with a clinician who has both in front of them.
