Managing a parent's care from an already full day

Getting a parent to a clinic is a half-day operation. Here is how to make routine care stop costing you one.

The real cost of a routine appointment

A blood pressure check that takes four minutes costs a working day: transport there, a queue, the appointment, transport back, and your parent's energy for the rest of the day. Repeat that quarterly across two or three ongoing needs and the arithmetic explains why things get postponed.

Move the routine parts home

Blood draws, prescription renewals and medication collection are the three that travel worst and move home most easily. Shifting those alone removes most of the logistics without changing anything clinical.

Keep the records in one place

When care is spread across clinics, the person holding the whole picture is usually you — from memory. Adding a parent to your profile in the MetaDoc app keeps their history, results and follow-ups together, so the picture does not depend on what you can recall in a consultation.

You are allowed to hand parts of it over

Coordinating a parent's care is real work, and doing it alongside a job is not a personal failing to push through. Handing the logistics to a service that does this every day is not stepping back from the responsibility — it is the part of it you can actually delegate.
